A CSA is a community supported agriculture program that links farmers directly to the community. Through this link the importance of local agriculture is sustained and the community is given an observable and transparent experience of their food source. Most often it consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. Cedar Spring Herb Farm is in the unique position to offer all of the above and in addition, finely crafted, value-added products produced on site for the home, your taste buds and your family’s general care. This will be our 3rd year offering a CSAW or ‘seesaw’ a catchy term that implies both the roots of a CSA and an added element of wellness. As we more toward more sustainable living and the recognition of the importance of our food we move also toward natural wellness. The seasonal biodiversity that exists on Cape Cod in its natural places in addition to what we grow will also be explored. Through a more diverse, seasonal food relationship we are able to provide our bodies a wider range of available nutrients. These ‘wild food nutrients (foods not usually available in the local market) along with herbs as food, strengthen our immunity and feed our bodies in unique ways. For the last 27 years I have been actively engaged in learning from the Earth, and hope to offer this to the CSA as well in the form of recipes, and information on how to look at your relationship to food and medicine on a more individual and sustainable level.
